How to create a website for free?

 Hello guys! To create a website we have to buy some services like domain and hosting. But this website in which you are reading this blog is made without buying any services. In this blog, I will tell you how I created this website absolutely for free.

Introduction

To create a website that will be live on the internet, we have to get services like Hosting and Domain. Before going deep let’s understand about Domain and Hosting as they will play a major role in website making.

What is Domain?

In simple words, Domain means the name of the website like www.sooryateja.me, www.google.com, etc. Actually, websites have IP Addresses that are very hard to remember. So, for easy access, we have to claim a Domain by buying it. The cost of Domains depends on its extension like .com and .in are in the midrange but .org, .shop, etc. are very costly. So, many websites you see on the internet have .com or .in extensions which are not costly. If you go to a domain it will send a request to global network of servers which form Domain Name System(DNS).Now let’s see what is Hosting.

What is Hosting?

Hosting is a place where all the files of your website are stored. Hosting is a place in the server where the HTML files and media files are stored. But, if we store all of these files on our own computer, then we will not have to buy any hosting right? Wrong! Because for the internet to access these files your computer should be connected to the internet always and should have good internet speed and also our storage devices (Hard Disk Drive, Solid State Drive, etc.) should have a good read and write speed. And our computers are not optimized to work as servers. So, we buy some space on the servers for some time. This is called Hosting.

How to create a website for free?

To create a website we need a free domain provider and a free hosting provider. Let’s see how to get them.

Blogger is a Google product that is used by bloggers to create their websites for free. But, there is a catch here. It offers a free domain and hosting but hosting has .blogspot.com as the suffix(at the end). So, we have to own a domain for a good-looking website.

There are many domain providers like GoDaddy, Namecheap, etc. I found out that Namecheap is offering free (.me) domains for students. So, I grabbed that deal by signing up for GitHub education as a student. And got my free .me domain
